In today’s story, you’ll meet one of our helpful Nordic Summit 2024 volunteers. He’s into the Azure side of things and you might have spotted him at a tech event or two. In fact, he’s even been featured on our blog before in a volunteer round-up! Say hello to Rex de Koning!

About Rex

Rex lives in a small town in the Netherlands and works as a Senior Cloud Engineer. In his own words, he’s “trying to keep himself busy with community work if he can.” 😊 He’s actively involved in, supports, or speaks at events including:

Fun fact: Rex is a proud winner of the UK Community Award for “The Communities, Community Hero Award”. You can see that proud winner over here!

Favourite part of the platform

Rex’s favorite? Power Apps, especially when paired with Azure:

“As I am mainly into Azure Infrastructure and Networking, I mostly like solutions where Power Apps make use of Azure function and use the option we have there to secure the traffic.”

Nordic Summit 2024

When we asked Rex what brought him to Nordic Summit, we got the most logical answer. “A plane.” 😊 Of course, it could have been a train, bus, car… or telepathy? Okay, maybe that’s taking it a bit too far.

“But also my love for the community, I’ve been to Nordic Summit both in 2023 and 2024 and find it a wonderful but also inclusive event. I won’t forget that in Copenhagen there was a line before the women’s toilet… Nothing to do with tech, but it shows that there was a large number of women present”.

When asked what he enjoyed most, Rex kept it simple: “Just the people, the networking and the community”.

For future events, Rex mentions we would love to see more Azure related sessions. The agenda for the event in Gothenburg in September this year is live, you can now explore the sessions: https://nordicsummit.info/sessions/ Among the topics you’ll find Azure AI Foundry and Azure AI Search, but also advanced Dataverse integrations, using Azure Service Bus and Azure Functions.

Thank you Rex for being a returning attendee, helpful volunteer and a fantastic part of Nordic Summit. We’re so glad to have you at our events as well as on the blog!
